[]?Edinburgh] [NO PUBLISHER] 1792. 8vo (in 4s), 205 x 137 mms., pp, [5] 6 - 215 [16 blank], including half-title, disbound This popular anti-reform pamphlet reached a third edition by 1793. The author asserts that the well-nourished and well-housed working people of Scotland are not oppressed, despite the claims made by those who endorse the principles of the French revolution of 1789. I rather like one of his concluding sentences: "Be always suspicious of great promises and of the m an who pretends too high a zeal and concern in your cause, when it is not his cause.... That man, depend upon it, has secret and interested ends of his own to drive...." Names in the news today? Answers on a postcard, please.
