The Winter, 1949 issue of Fate Magazine - Volume 2, Number 2, a very scarce and richly-laden early issue of Raymond A. Palmer's now-legendary paranormal-reporting non-fiction enterprise - which began with, in its first issue, Kenneth Arnold's cover account of flying crescents which "skipped like saucers across a pond", an event which, for whatever reason, kicked off the modern era of UFO events. After that, Fate introduced countless events which remain, to this day, fodder for paranormal documentaries and investigation. 12mo, illustrated stapled wraps, 96 pp. A (startlingly) almost Near Fine example - much better than Very Good. Several very small touch points of wear, and not much else to note (scans). The inevitable age-toning to the still-very-supple newsprint pages is even less pronounced than in most more recent issues. See scans. Surprisingly High Grade condition for a periodical which often shows substantial wear from use even in its much later years. Contents run a wide gamut; cover illustration depicts Rudolph Valentino; the lead article, by the estimable Vincent Gaddis (progenitor of the "Bermuda Triangle" name and concept) relates to the "Death Seance" which may have foretold Valentino's demise.
