Alfred A. Knopf, New York, 1973. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Very Good Condition/Good. Illustrator: Ralph Fasanella. preface by author and list of paintings and drawings. Dark olive coloured endpapers. The text is illustrated with colour reproductions of Ralph Fasanella's artwork, 1 with two foldouts to reproduce the artwork, sepia toned drawings, usually on newspapers, and the occasional sepia coloured photograph. Olive coloured cloth covered boards with self embossed design to the lower edge of the front panel with gilt coloured titles to the back strip. Colour illustrated dustwrapper (wraparound), being a reproduction of Ralph Fasanella's painting ''New York City'', 1957, with black coloured titles to the front panel and light blue and white coloured titles to the back strip. Black-and-white photograph of the artist to the top right hand corner of the front fold over panel. A dual biography of the American naive / primitive artist Ralph Fasanella, both of his life and of his art. Discovered in 1972, at the age of 58, Ralph Fasanella celebrates his Italian-American upbringing in Greenwich Village, urban America as represented by the life of New York City and of life in America in general  the good  family, the bad  materialistic America and the sad  the death of John F. Kennedy and the Rosenbergs. Rubbing to the book corners and back strip corners. Very light age toning of the text block edges. A previous owner has cut the top right hand corner of the half title page, probably removing name  please see photograph. One of the panels of ''New York City 1957' has a vertical crease the full length of the page. A little chipping of the dustwrapper corners and back strip corners. There is a 1.25'' tear to the top right hand corner of the rear panel. Creasing of the dustwrapper edges and rubbing of the panels. Fading of the back strip and a little patchy fading to the panels.
