In an attempt to deal with the farm price and surplus problems, President Hoover created the Federal Farm Board. It was designed to allow cooperatives to hold crop surpluses and market them in an orderly fashion. One of the first important acts of the farm board was setting up a $20 million grain sales corporation, headquartered in Chicago. This book sets forth problems facing agriculture and the scope of the Agricultural Marketing Act. Chapter headings include: Economic factors which led to the Passage of the Agricultural Marketing Act; The Drive for Farm Relief; Loans; Price Insurance; Clearing House Associations; Advisory Commodity Committees; Possiblities and Limitations of the Farm Board, and more. 197 pp.
