Original blindstamped maroon cloth decorated and lettered in gilt on boards. Green ribbon bookmark. Very clean overall. Biographical sketches of opera, oratorio, and concert singers of renown from the beginning of Italian opera to the 1880's. Several full-length portraits. Newspaper clipping of portrait and story of Caruso glued inside back cover. The front hinge has been strained at the head, but is not separated. Green ribbon bookmark. Lahee (1856-1953) was a well-known musical commentator of his day. 337 pp. plus index..
