About This Item

Kodansha International, 1981. First edition. Hardcover. Like New/Fine . 12x7x0. Though northern Kyushu is most famous for Imari porcelain, there is a tradition of Korean inspired stoneware also. The Agano and Takatori kilns epitomize this legacy, as does the well known Karatsu ware. Influenced by the Kyoto tea ceremony taste, Agano and Takatori nontheless maintained a vigor, strength, humbleness, and spontaneity that, over the centuries, continued to reflect the Korean origin of these kilns' first potters.
