James G. Gregory, 1861. soft cover. Good/No jacket. New York: James G. Gregory. 1861. 31p. Sewn wrps. Covers soiled with some chipping along edges with the spine strip chipped at top and bottom edges. Internally a half-inch diagonal slice through all pages at top margin not affecting text. Externally the slice continues, also light fraying of edges, otherwise a tight clean copy. Two strong pro-Union statements by a Kentucky Democrat who had been in Buchanan's Cabinet and became the first Judge Advocate-General of the U. S. Army, in September, 1862. He was largely influential in preventing Kentucky from seceding. See DAB for additional information. Sabin #32650.
