About This Item

Seattle, WA: Sears Roebuck and Co., 1933. Thick 4to. 752 pp. With 1000s of text illustrations, photo text illustrations, many colour plates. Colour-lithograph illustrated softcovers, cover art illustration of fashionably dressed woman paging through the Sears Catalogue on front cover, w/ calendar pages against the right fore-edge, women’s fashions on back cover, wool blanket samples attached on verso of front cover (slight dustsoiling, very minor creasing to spine, light uniform toning to interior pages as usual, faint scuffing from removed coupon on front cover), still a NF copy. First edition in exceptional condition of this expansive Sears Roebuck catalogue at the depths of the Great Depression, geared to the Pacific Northwest market. The women’s fashions heavily reflect the Hollywood glamour of the 1930s, as well as splendid hats, patterned fabrics, lingerie, men’s made-to-order suits, as well as many listings and ads for sturdy work clothes, logging & railroad boots, along with wool coats. In addition, the catalogue includes substantial sections devoted to boats, boat motors, fishing & camping supplies, colour patterned awnings & tents, Elgin bicycles, aviation supplies, tires and other automobile accessories, furniture, stoves, jewelry, and men’s suits.
