HAND COLOURED COPY 1788. 4to approximately 260 x 195 mm, 10¼ x 7½ inches, engraved title plus 24 hand coloured plates each with descriptive leaf of text in FRENCH, all printed on 1 side, manuscript captions in Russian below each plate, lacking Dedication, bound in full red morocco, gilt decoration to spine and covers, gilt dentelles, (turn ins), silk pastedowns, (small bookplate on last blank leaf, W. Klotschkoff, St Petersbourg). Binding rubbed with small repairs to head of spine, title page dusty and soiled at lower corner, silk pastedowns and endpapers soiled, text block leaning, 1 tiny hole affects the image of the first 8 plates, very neatly repaired on verso and hardly noticeable, also affecting outer margins of remaining plates and text, also neatly repaired, pale browning to most outer margins and pale soiling to lower corners, small nicks to lower edges of 4 leaves, 1 plate has small ink splash in the sky and another has a small pale spot to top border, not affecting image, the other plates are clean. A fair copy only of a scarce hand coloured edition.
