About This Item

MP3 Audio CD. At the age of 67, Charles Perrault wrote fairy tales of all kinds dedicated to his children and his publications such as Tales and Stories of the Past with Morals or what is best known as Tales of Mother Goose. The Mother Goose is denoted as rural stories with proverbs as moral lessons in the end of each story. He is signified as the founder of the modern fairy tales. His children?s stories were based on the early written fairy tales in the salons, most preferably by by Marie-Catherine Le Jumel de Barneville, Baroness d'Aulnoy, who contributed the catch phrase ?fairy tale? and Charles wrote a number of tales after.

His fairy tales specifically Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty stays to be popular until the present time and the texts are still originally written by the author himself and remains to be unedited. A few of the editions of the Sleeping Beauty as of today came to some extent on a Brother?s Grimm story and Little Briar Rose which is an altered edition of the original Perrault story, but the famous Disney version is somewhat exactly true to the real Perrault story.

Charles Perrault was a French writer and member of the Académie Française. He was the founder of the new literary genre, the fairy tale, with his works coming from previous folk tales. His most popular stories include Le Petit Chaperon Rouge (Little Red Riding Hood), Cendrillon (Cinderella), Le Chat Botté (Puss in Boots), La Belle au bois Dormant (The Sleeping Beauty), and Barbe Bleue (Bluebeard). Most of Perrault's editions of olden tales have inspired the German editions printed by the Brothers Grimm over a hundred years after. He was a key figure in the 17th-century French literary setting, and was the leader of the Modern faction at the time of the Quarrel of the Ancients and the Moderns.
