His most popular stories include Le Petit Chaperon Rouge (Little Red Riding Hood), Cendrillon (Cinderella), Le Chat Botté (Puss in Boots), La Belle au bois Dormant (The Sleeping Beauty), and Barbe Bleue (Bluebeard). Most of Perrault's editions of olden tales have inspired the German editions printed by the Brothers Grimm over a hundred years after. He was a key figure in the 17th-century French literary setting, and was the leader of the Modern faction at the time of the Quarrel of the Ancients and the Moderns.
