A collection of the most popular stories of the Brothers Grimm, this being a new translation of the stories by Mrs Edgar Lucas.The Brothers Grimm were siblings who helped to popularise folklore from around the world, particular during the Romantic era which saw popularity in national literature and culture.Including the stories, 'The Frog Prince', 'Rapunzel', 'Hansel and Grethel', 'Red Riding Hood', 'Rumpelstiltskin', and more.With the dashing illustrations of Arthur Rackham, who is one of the most popular book illustrators of all time, known for his proflici work during the Golden Age of Book Illustration.Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, and thirty-seven colours plates, and in-text monochrome illustrations.Collated, bound without two plates, to face pages 90 and 128, and the half-title. Rebacked, with the original cloth boards and spine restored. Externally, generally smart, with evidence of loss to the spine and joints prior to rebacking. Spine is faded. Some light rubbing to the boards and spne. Discolouration to the tail of the rear board. Light bumping to the extremities. Faded damp stain to the front board. Artist's surname to the front board has been restored in gilt. Paste downs and endpapers have been restored. Light tide mark to the bottom edge of the paste downs and endpapers, offsetting a little to the following and preceding few pages of text, including the frontispiece. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with the occasional spot. Small tide mark to the bottom edge of the textblock, including plates, heavier to the first half of the volume. Title page is detaching. Gift inscription to the reverse of the frontispiece. Repair to the tail of page xv, no loss of text. Good
