Old blue-bordered octagonal tag on front wrapper (blank); small blank square also affixed to front wrapper. 31 pp. *** FIRST and ONLY EDITION of the sixth part of a work published in six numbers (all in 1822) critiquing political events in Lisbon, particularly the actions of Sepulveda (chefe de saude militar), Gattinara, and Moura Cabral. The author was a fan of Rousseau. Page 31 includes errata, and a note that reprints of numbers 1-3, as well as numbers 4 and 6, are available "nas Lojas do costume." Santos Verdelho mentions a related work by Mendonça, Sonambulismo do Solitário da Facécia, I Lisbon, 1822.Francisco de Assis Castro e Mendonça (ca. 1791-1860) was born in Coimbra, where he later earned his medical degree. During the 1830s he actively participated in political debate as editor of the periodicals Águia and Industrial civilizador. Later he practiced homeopathic medicine for many years in Mafra.*** Innocêncio II, 348: calling for six numbers.
