Jean de La Fontaine wrote the very amusing Fables ever made in every dialect, and formed them a representation of literary precision; although our translators and compilers have someway derelict him. His Fables are lyrical verse of increasing level, and this solely has almost certainly been a hurdle to a well familiarity with his work when translated to our own language. Completed into literature, the Fables are not anymore Jean de La Fontaine, but replaced with the several highly regarded, overcast translations which English book lovers try to love because they are masterpieces ? although the spirit that created them such has been disjointed from the lifeless body.

Jean de La Fontaine was a popular French fabulist and among the much largely read French poets during the 17th century. He is renowned especially for his Fables, which offered an example for succeeding fabulists around Europe and countless alternate interpretations in France, and in French regional vernaculars.

After a lengthy time of royal misgiving, he was ultimately given access to the French Academy and his name in France has never fainted ever since. Proof of this is seen in innumerable photographs and statues of the fabulist, along with the following delineations on medals, coins and postage stamps.

He was born at Château-Thierry in France. His father was Charles de La Fontaine, maître des eaux et forêts ? a sort of deputy-ranger ? of the Duchy of Château-Thierry; his mother was Françoise Pidoux. The two sides of his family were of the greatest provincial bourgeois; although they were not aristocratic, his father was rather rich.

Jean, the first child, studied at the collège (linguistics institution) of Château-Thierry, and in the last school days he joined the Oratory in May 1641, and the seminary of Saint-Magloire in October of the same year; but a much abrupt break showed to him that he made a mistake in choosing his vocation.
