Frank Stockton, in part a sophisticated nineteenth- century antecedent of Edmund Wilson and , like him, a chronicler of events in the lives of genteel Manhattan suburbanites, had also much of lewis Carroll's blithe and chi9ldlike delight in the fantastic.There are eight wonderful stories by Stockton and ten whimsical illustrations by Tommy Beere a fine New York artist whose work encompassed water color, oils, murals and pen and ink sketches. She had many shows and exhibits in the area and was considered one of the most "exuberant and skillful artist of her time. Book is very fine bound in floral cloth and a quarter bound spine in brown cloth. Book plate of Seymour Hecht a charter member of Story Classics. A nice addition to any library.
