London: Burns & Lambert, 1862 Appears to to be first edition. Hard cover book . Green leather with gilt title and decorations to spine in compartments, gilt decoations to front and back covers, all edges gilt. 385pp. Engraved frontispiece, engraving in text and a few engraved decorative chapter headings. Story of early Christian martyrs for members of the Roman Catholic Church. Convent school prize leaf tipped in at front, 1864. Covers bright and clean, but edges rubbed with abrasions. Binding sound. Endpapers have faint pencil scribble (also on one page) and front endpaper has small tear. A few spots and marks, one or two edge creases or small tears. A Very Good copy. Pictures available.
