Time-Life Books, 1985. Hardcover. Near Fine. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Facsimile reprint of the 1861 first edition. Full leather binding with ruled decorations and raised bands and panels to spine. Marbled endpapers. All edges gilt. 480pp, with two fold out illustrations, as called for. A handsome volume in near condition containing one of the most important early accounts of the people and animals of equatorial Africa, including one of the first accounts of the newly-discovered gorillas, relflecting du Cahillu's adventures and explorations in western Equatorial Africa in the 1850s. Collector's and gift quality item.
