London: Duckworth, 1916. First Edition. Hard Cover. Signed by Author. First UK Edition. Publisher's light red cloth with front board blind-stamped with title and author's name and publisher's emblem blind-stamped to back board with gilt lettering to the spine. INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR. A very good copy with a faded spine and trivial loss at the head. Inscribed by the Author to the FFEP: "R.F. Jessup/ with all good wishes from/ his old friend,/ R Austin Freeman/ Nov. 1940". [R F Jessup had supplied technical advice and information of an archaeological nature for the Freeman novel, The Penrose Mystery]. No D/W. Photographs/scans available upon request.
