About This Item
1776 third (final) edition. Book has condition issues. There is good news and bad news. Bad news first. Sometime in last 60 years this volume was bound in black buckram with end papers and title page removed. Title page is modern professional reproduction. Text block resewn too tightly causing plate 4 and page 244/45 to be partially cut at hinge. Pencil marks on half title of essay 1. Now the good news. All else complete; 6 plates; 296 pages; minor foxing; no other torn hinges. More good news: I am including modern paperback reprints (Ecco) of both the second and third editions, which I needed to verify which edition this is. MacBride is famously known for his very wrong call on scurvy. His thinking represented the majority medical opinion of his time. See "Scurvy" by Stephen Bown for the full story. A scarce historically important item. Please see scans of the books you will receive. Feel free to inquire if you have any questions.
