Boston: Ticknor and Fields, 1863. Hardcover. Fine. First edition. Small octavo. 319pp. Publisher's blue-green blind-stamped textured cloth. A few tiny tears at the spine ends, and the attractive bookplate of Harrison and Helen Holt on the front paste-down, a crisp, fine copy, firmly bound with sharp corners and devoid of any restoration. An important collection of works by Thoreau, which begins with Emerson's "Biographical Sketch," and follows with "Natural History of Massachusetts," "A Winter Walk," "A Walk to Wachusett," "Wild Apples," and several other works. *BAL* 20111, noting this as one of 1558 copies of the first printing. A lovely copy.
