It follows the power struggles, alliances, and battles among the states of Wei, Shu, and Wu, led by the ambitious warlords Cao Cao, Liu Bei, and Sun Quan, respectively. 2) Pilgrimage to the West (Journey to the West): Written by Wu Cheng'en, this novel is a fantastical retelling of the pilgrimage of the Buddhist monk Xuanzang, known as Tripitaka, to India to obtain sacred texts. Accompanied by his disciples-the mischievous Monkey King, the gluttonous Pigsy, and the loyal Sandy-Tripitaka faces 81 trials during their quest, each presenting moral and physical challenges. The story is rich in allegory, satire, and the portrayal of perseverance. 3) Flowers in the Mirror: Authored by Li Ruzhen, this fantasy novel is set during the reign of Empress Wu Zetian of the Tang Dynasty. It follows Tang Ao, who embarks on a journey encountering various fantastical lands and societies after the Empress demands all flowers to bloom overnight, defying the laws of nature. The novel is notable for its feminist themes, satirical take on society, and imaginative landscapes.
