It took 2 years to perfect the specially modified IMAX camera and the team of photographers, filmmakers, scientists, and climbers who would work together to get it to the summit of Mt. Everest. It took two monthsto acclimate to the thin air and prepare for the final assault on the Death Zone--a region so high that without acclimatization, humans die within minutes. It took barely two terrifying days for the mountain to claim eight lives and turn the Everest Film Expedition team led by world-class mountaineer and award-winning filmmaker David Breashears, into eyewitnesses--and lifesavers--caught up in a tragedy that made headlines around the world. Here is a stunning portrait of the most majestic mountain on earth and a riveting firsthand account of the men and women who dare to challenge it..
