The essential Conan is just that. Robert E Howard shows his signature adventure writing. Not just content with Conan's berserker fury he gives us political intrigue, battle tactics and lusty escapades. Set late in Conan's career as King of Aquilonia we see the advent of a new usurper in the form of the Nemedians aided by an evil sorcerer raised by foul necromancy. This is a thrill a minute ride with Howard almost tumbling over himself to get the brimming adventure onto the page. Well worth the time
