Paris: Chaubert; Le veuve Pissot; Jean de Nully, 1734. First Edition. Hardcover (Full Leather). Very Good Condition. Finely bound in full contemporary morocco, elaborately gilt on the spine and boards in floral patterns, inner dentelles, painted endpapers (a little rubbed), two old bookplates to the front pastedown, all edges gilt, corners a little bumped, modest rubbing to hinges - a lovely example of 18th century French bookbinding. Scattered light foxing, a touch heavier early on. Two years after Titon du Tillet's description of a vast sculpture park dedicated to the great artists, writers and musicians of France, he published this book of supporting essays on the arts.
