In 1944 the US submarine was hit by one of its own faulty topedoes. The survivors struggled to survive 180 feet below the surface while the japanese dropped depth charges. With air running out some chose to make a daring ascent through the escape hatch. Just nine survived- for those who did it was the beginning of a greater ordeal under the captivity of the Japanese where they were beaten and tortured but again survived.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo.
