About This Item
Boston: G.K. Hall & Co.. Near Fine. [1978]. First Edition. Hardcover. 081617895X . (no dust jacket, as issued) [nice copy with just a touch of shelfwear and one tiny stain to bottom of text block]. (A Reference Publication in Film) Series (B&W photo frontispiece) Comphensive reference guide to Lubitsch's life and work, divided into the following sections: Biographical Background; Critical Survey; The Films (including synopses, full credits and notes); Writings about Ernst Lubitsch; Writings, Performances and Other Film Related Activity; Archival Sources; Film Distributors. Although Lubitsch has certainly been given more fulsome biographical treatments since this volume was originally published, it's still extremely helpful for the full credits and detailed plot synopses of his films, and especially for the information about his "other film related activity," including unrealized projects, uncredited contributions to various films, and so on. .
