Inscribed on front end page, "To Anne B. (last name): in happy recollection of a lonely Sunday afternoon in -Honolulu- Sincerely, Louis Cochran Santa Monica 3-11-1960 States First Edition 1955. Book Near Fine, Dust Jacket Good. Top spine worn with small rips, same with corners. Bottom edge worn badly and missing about 1/4" from the back side of the spine and narrowing to the middle of front cover. A couple of tears backside (no pieces missing).

Albany, NY, 1902. First Edition. Pamphlet. Very good. Staple-bound pamphlet. 9"x5 3/4". 8 pp. No wraps as issued. Small chip to upper right corner of first page. Light toning to edges and margins. 1" closed tear at bottom of crease. This is a report read at a New York State conference on penal reform in 1902. It was prepared and presented by committe chariman and progressive reformer Eugene Ambrose Philbin, cowritten by 8 other noted activist leaders, including Josephine Shaw Lowell and William Church Osborn. The report admonishes the presence of politics and profiteering in the administration of prisons and charitable organizations, the first seeds of corruption that have now blossomed into America's billion dollar prison industrial complex. Essentially fine, with only the slightest traces of use. at extremities. An apparently unread copy. # 767 of 1025. Gilt stamped bevelled boards Top edge gilt. Laid in is a signed, handwritten letter to his friend, and frequent correspondant, Canadian author Frederick Niven. References in this 2 page letter ( 1 sheet, both sides ), included along with some personal things, are critical thoughts on the " new reading public ", Thomas Hardy, Charles Lamb, Hitler, and Murder in the Cathedral. It is dated 1939. An interesting association cop, of one of Tomlinson's most respected works..

Good plus condition: leather is mildly worn with a little loss; marbled boards are clean and bright with loss of paper to bottom edges of boards; all are straight and tight, clean and unmarked; no tears.
