Plate in very good, clean condition, with minor edgewear. Text is in very good, clean condition with a touch of darkening and edgewear. Attractive woodcut vignettes to the front of each section. Lovely edition of Enlightenment essayist Bernard Le Bouvier de Fontenelle's successful popularisation of the Copernican system plus his imaginary dialogues with dead people. xii, 1-394 pp. 190 by 120mm (7½ by 4¾ inches). Très bel exemplaire de cette Nouvelle Edition. Reliure plein cuir avec vignettes rouges et titres dorés. Avec plaque dépliante gravée du système solaire. Reliure en parfait état. Assiette en très bon état, propre, avec une légère usure des bords. Le texte est en très bon état, propre avec une touche d'assombrissement et d'usure des bords. Attrayantes vignettes gravées sur bois au début de chaque section.
