hardcover. No date in book, original was 1852 and this is probably a later variant. There is an extra title-page with colored insects illustration, and frontispiece engraving of John Ray (and a memoir of that naturalist and philosopher). 30 numbered colored insect plates. -- Rebound in 3/4 leather over patterned boards, and with a nice bookplate, oval, red with gold initials EMC, owner not identified. -- Hardcover, 4.3x6.7 inches. Condition: Condition: very good (leather spine has very light rubbing; no tissue guards against the colored plates, so there is an offset shadow to the opposing text pages).
