Dublin: Thomas Courtney, 1826. Early Edition. Hardcover. Very nice original condition. Near Fine. Duodecimo (3-1/2" x 5-1/4") in original calf-backed boards titled in gilt on the spine; 180 pages. Frontispiece engraving (laid down on inside front board, as issued?), 4 full-page plates, and several text engravings. A collection of bizarre but true stories, apparently aimed at a younger reader, for the purpose of instruction. Examples include: "Account of a Moving Bog in the County of Galway," "Account of the Snakes of North America and of the Humming Bird," "Affecting Account of a Sale of Slaves," etc.
