Calcutta: Firma KLM. 1977. Repr., original cloth boards, spine faded, pp xxxvi, 562. Loose protective plastic wrap. Calcutta bookshop stamp front free endpaper. Permission confirmation slip for travel on the Northern Railway (India) loosely inserted. Very good condition. Reprint of the 1920 edition: first published in 1905. The author, Charles Alfred Bell, was the British Political Officer for Bhutan, Sikkim and Tibet. He was known as "British India's ambassador to Tibet" before retiring and becoming a noted tibetologist. Reprint. Boards.
