Ginn & Company. Very Good with no dust jacket. 1945. Hardcover. Green hard boards with titles pannelled in balck on the cover and spine. An ex-library book, there is no pocket but stamps from the 'Department of National Defense Ottawa'. Wear to the spine ends and corners, rubbing tothe front cover title, tightly bound with a couple of pages with underlining. Frontispiece of Shakespeare, with black & white illustrations through the book. "This book which presents the whole splendid history of English literature from Anglo-Saxon times to the close of the Victorian Era has three specific aims. The first is to create or to encourage in every student the desire to read the best books and to know literature itself rather than what has been written about literature." ; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall; 636 pages .
