Lawrence's corrected typescript of his early abridged version of "Seven pillars of wisdom", and other important books and letters by Lawrence, the autograph manuscript of General Montgomery's message to the Eighth Army before the battle of El Alamein, working manuscripts of Lady Hamilton's 'Memorial' on her association with Nelson and services to her country, papers and memorabilia of the actor Robert Donat, an early poetical notebook of W. H. Auden, a caricature of 'Enoch Soames' by Max Beerbohm, an important collection relating to the first production of Samuel Beckett's Endgame, first editions of novels by Ian Fleming, Agatha Christie, Raymond Chandler and others, fine series of letters by Patricia Highsmith and by Robert Graves, a large collection of books relating to Bertrand Russell, a collection of Scottish broadsides 1661-1747, a collection of Irish literature from the library of the late Robert O'Driscoll, inscribed presentation copies of books by Charles Dickens, William Wordsworth, Oscar Wilde and others, fine letters and manuscripts by Lord Chesterfield, David Livingstone, Rupert Brooke, Joseph Conrad, Florence Nightingale, Fletcher Christian, A.
