Octavo, 234 pages plus 16 illustrations from engravings from photographs presented to the author by the King of Siam. Cloth with a title label mounted (slightly askew) on the front cover; a near-fine copy with the slipcase slightly cracked at the corners. Introduction by Robin Duke. Anna Harriette Leonowens (1831-1915), British writer and governess employed by King Mongkut (Rama IV) of Siam [now Thailand] for the instruction of his children, including his son and successor, Prince Chulalongkorn' (Britannica).
