Contemporary polished calf, spine elaborately gilt tooled in six compartments with morocco label, gilt ruled borders and gilt tooled board edges, marbled edges and endpapers with gilt tooled inner dentelles (corners a little bumped and scuffed - otherwise bright VG). Pp. [ii] + vii + [1] + 469 + [3] blank, no half title, illus with engraved portrait frontispiece (previous owner's 1868 gift inscription on front prelim).
