About This Item
Washington, DC: U.S. Government Printing Office, 1950. Later Printing . Hardcover (with Dust Jacket). Very Good. 8vo (467pages, 54 illus., 57 maps [most color folding], 13 charts, 21 tables, chronology, appendices, index). This volume is part of the U.S. Army’s official After-Action Report, published 1947-59. It provides a fascinating overview of the tremendous, and largely unsung, contribution of the engineers to victory. Engineer Intelligence, in particular, is almost unknown, yet critical to operations. A letter from Maj. Gen. Hugh J. Casey, Chief Engineer (Ret.), to Col. Heiberg, a professor at West Point, that accompanied this copy when Casey sent it to Heiberg, is laid in at the front. This is a very good copy, issued without dust jacket, spine faded, covers slightly scratched, corners a bit bumped.
