New York: Peter H. Beard / International Center for Photography, 1977. Hardcover. Very good. Square 4to. First printing of this special edition commemorating the exhibition at the I.C.P., New York City, November / December 1977. Illustrated throughout with black and white and color photograph , drawings, and maps; 256 pp. 1 vols. Gray cloth blocked in blind on the boards. Pictorial endpapers. The cloth is lightly sunned on the spine and board edges, not nearly as a much as normal for this title.


Signed in orange crayon on the reverse of the front endpaper by Beard.


The title states this is a pictorial documentation of the origins, history and prospects on the big game in Africa, with early histories in Kenya, Tanhanyika, Uganda, Ethopioa, et al., and the Patterson diary on the Man-Eaters of Tsavo. Illustrated with "upwards of 300 photoengravings and stonetone plates." This special edition is a revision and updating of the 1965 Viking Press edition.


Laid-in is an auction announcement from the 1977 show as well as a press release for the I.C.P. Exhibition. .
