Amstelodami, Apud Ludovicum Elzevirium, 1649. 12mo, 122 x 67 mms., pp. [xxii], 69y, additional engraved title-page (repaired), contemporary red morocco, gilt border on cover, with gilt ornament in each corner, spine ornately gilt in compartments, red morocco label, all edges gilt; some slight worming to prelims, slight wear to top and base of spine, but generally a very good to fine copy, with ownership inscriptions on recto of front paste-down end-paper. The jurist, minister, and scholar Johannes Arnoldi Corvinus (1582 - 1650) was also professor of jurisprudence at Amsterdam. Here, his subject is Roman law.
