Rene Grousset (1885-1952) was a French historian whose specialty was oriental history. This book was considered a standard reference on the subject of the history of the Steppes and is divided into three main sections: 1. The High Plateaus of Asia Until the Thirteenth Century 2. The Jenghiz-khanite Mongols 3. The Last Mongols. There are eighteen maps and end paper maps as well. Contains an index and chapter source notes in the rear. Translated from the French by Naomi Walford. Original publisher's brown cloth publisher's covers with gilt spine lettering. There is a little wear to the corner tips, else this is a nice clean and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings, no previous owner names and no bookplates.
