About This Item
"On March 7 and I, 1962, the Battle of Pea Ridge was fought in northwest Arkansas. During this two-day battle the Confederates, under General Earl Van Dorn, attacked the rear of the Union army commanded by General Samuel Curtis. By the end of the first day the rebels had lost tow key commanders, brigadier generals Benjamin McCulloch and James M. McIntosh. This then brought about the collapse of the Confederate effort on their right wing, leaving only a wounded General Sterling Price to finish the battle on the left the following day."
