[London]: The Cresset Press Limited, 1930. Hardback. Very Good. FIRST EDITION, LIMITED & SIGNED BY AUTHOR, no. 44/ 350 on mould-made paper (of 380). Royal 8vo, pp. vii, [i], 107, [1] + four dry point illustrations and title page vignette by Hodgkins. Quarter vellum, spine lettered in gilt, monochrome marbled paper boards. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed. Board edges rubbed, heel of spine bumped, corners bruised. Inscribed by STW in blue ink to limitation page. Else, clean and bright. Lacks the matching marbled slipcase. Very good A very good copy of a gorgeous edition of STW's short story, whose writing, in late summer 1929, left its author "rather breathless" when she "put on a spurt and murdered my husband" (in Harman, 1995) A special edition of 30 copies on hand-made paper was issued simultaneously.
