Contents: v. 1, The Tradition. v. 2, Analysis of the Tradition / The Man (Studies in Judaism in Late Antiquity from the first to the seventh century, 3-4). 2.1kg. Please Note the heft of the two volumes, which will necessitate extra charges for shipping. One of prolific Prof. Neusner's more important studies. Rabbi Eliezer b. Hyrcanus was one of the most prominent tannaim of the 1st and 2nd centuries. A youth when the temple was destroyed, in middle age, he became a disciple of R. Johanan ben Zakkai and colleague of Gamaliel II, whose sister, Imma Shalom. He helped carry R. ben Zakkai to Jamnia, and later established his own academy at Lydda. Known for his phenomenal memory and acumen, he is one of the most frequently mentioned sages in the Mishnah. Two hefty volumes will possibly require extra postage. Both volumes are in excellent condition externally and internally.
