The historical notes that follow each chapter recap the main points. The Second Edition features: Chapters reorganized to improve teaching 200 new problems New material on source coding, portfolio theory, and feedback capacity Updated references Now current and enhanced, the Second Edition of Elements of Information Theory remains the ideal textbook for upper-level undergraduate and graduate courses in electrical engineering, statistics, and telecommunications. An Instructor's Manual presenting detailed solutions to all the problems in the book is available from the Wiley editorial department.

Wiley & Sons have crippled the international version of this book. I received the India edition from a biblio merchant. I would have been satisfied if the problems were merely out of order, but many are missing or changed in important ways. More importantly, pages have been removed from the text as well, and early topics are not given as much depth as in the domestic edition. (I'm returning it before covering more advanced topics because it's so far short of the domestic edition).Oh, and the script font is way uglier.

About Vintage-Books

Welcome to Vintage Books, an independent family owned bookstore and mail order business. We have been serving book-lovers and auto enthusiasts for 35 years. We've always put our priority where our hearts are: the best book selection we can offer and the most knowledgeable, dedicated staff. Our staff are all passionate readers-- the diversity of our preferences can be seen on our "staff choices" shelves. We work hard to make your book buying experience easy, and treat your books with the care we would treat our own. If you were to visit our physical store, you will find us to be pretty low key. Plain pine bookcases, old rugs, old chairs and a small couch in the children's area. Blank vertical surfaces are covered with old ads, sayings, booklists and displayed books. We are unable to list our extensive selection of used paperbacks, some of the automotive items and hardbacks on-line, because our inventory changes daily.
