Very slight soiling, rubbing and edgewear to covers, with a couple of small abrasions to leather of spine. Remainder of small label to top margin of first title page. Otherwise, apart from slight age toning, a very good copy - clean and unmarked - of this handsome copy of the esteemed Campos edit of Cervantes' classic. ~NNN~ [2.5P] The 1951 Bouret edition of Don Quixote, a Spanish epic novel by Miguel de Cervantes. It was originally published in two parts, in 1605 and 1615. Considered a founding work of Western literature, it is often labelled as the first modern novel and one of the greatest works ever written. Don Quixote is also one of the most-translated books in the world and one of the best-selling novels of all time. Mark Twain referred to the book as having 'swept the world's admiration for the mediaeval chivalry-silliness out of existence.' This Paris edition is augmented with notes and comments, and a glossary of outdated or infrequently used words, by J. Delgado Campos.
