Salamanca: Almar, 1988. SCARCE FIRST EDITION of Cabo's critical edition of this picaresque novel, written around 1604 but not printed until recently. A PRESENTATION COPY, with a signed inscription on the half-title and a laid-in TNS from the editor to Claudio Guillen, son of poet Jorge Guillen and brother-in-law of medievalist Stephen Gilman. At the time (1988), Guillen was teaching at Harvard whenever sufficiently sober. Soon afterwards he returned to his native Spain and became a member of the Real Academia. 8vo. Original wraps. FINE AND BRIGHT.
