About This Item

UK,slim 8vo,Art Exhibition catalogue,2nd imp.VG. No owner inscrptn, and absence of publisher's price.Card cover with red background and b/w portrait of Iron Duke to front cover with capitalised, white lettered title and an accidental, oblique, diagonal corner crease leaving a faint impression of same to title page below - other corners sharp and without crease, metal staples with minimal rust to spine, rear cover, white without lettering and some inevitable but minimal age-acquired light grubbing.Negligible shelf-wear, bumping, creasing to edges and corners - no major nicks, tears or splits present other than a small closed tear to rear cover's lower edge.Top+fore-edges aged/toned; contents generally bright, tight and clean with minimal sporadic foxing/spotting - no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corne tips - possibly unread, other than my own collation.UK,slim 8vo Exhibition catalogue,2nd imp, 2-15pp [paginated] includes a Foireword, and Introduction by Ellis K. Waterhouse (Director of the National Gallery of Scotland) who also compiled the Exhibition,18 painting descriptions of paintings by assorted artists amongst which are: Jan Van Der Heyden, Adriaen Van Ostade, Sir Peter Paul Rubens, Jan Steen, Don Diego de Silva Y Velazquez, two paintings ascribed to and of the Studio of Velazquez respectively, and Philips Wouverman, and a Note explaining about replacement picture of Jan Steen's 'The Physician's Visit', by Jan Brueghel the Elder's 'Entering the Ark',with 4 b/w painting illustrations in 1 block, between pp8/9,plus [unpaginated] title page. Visually the exterior appearance is acceptable, and even internally, the book is also in an acceptable condition/state of preservation and presentation for an ephemeral item of its age and nature. It is only the detractions described that prevents a slightly higher grading.Nevertheless it is still an acceptable copy. The 18 paintings exhibited form the core of the collection of paintings accumulated by the Iron Duke, which have been presented to the nation by the then present Duke of Wellington, together with Apsley House,to form a Wellington Museum. The whole collection is interesting in that it includes a rare Velazquez masterpiece. Please contact seller, because of the lighter weight of this item, for correct shipping/P+p quotes - particularly ALL overseas buyers - BEFORE ordering through the order page! N.B. ALL buyers please note, stocks' actual shipping/P+p costs are adjusted and any difference is refunded, after order's receipt and before the order's despatch, especially if the item(s) are offered either P+p included/FREE. ** N.B.
