London; Folio Society, 2014., 2014. Hard Cover. FACSIMILE reprint. Folio, pp. [6], 258. 3 title pages with vignettes, 121 colour illustrations of which 61 full-page, and full-page map to rear. Publishers' crimson cloth with gilt titles to spine, blocked in gilt, black and maroon to spine and upper board; top edge gilt; ribbon place-marker; housed in plain red paper-covered card slipcase. A clean copy with no annotation or inscriptions; slipcase very slightly surface scuffed. A Fine copy in Near Fine slipcase. First published in twenty parts from 1847-9 by F. G. Moon, designed to be bound in three volumes, each with title page. This edition is reprinted from the First Edition in the John Rylands Library at the University of Manchester. Roberts (1796-1864), the Scottish painter, produced exquisite works depicting temples, ruins and landscapes from his extensive tours overseas, which were understandably hugely popular with the British public. Heavyweight so a contribution towards increased postage costs will be requested for overseas delivery.
