London, Paris, New York: Cassell, Petter, Galpin & Co. , 1879 Volume two only of a two volume set. Very ornate tooled leather covers. Translated from the original German by Clara Bell. Folio 15 1/8"tall x 12" wide. Introduction and notes by S. Birch. xxii, 388 pages printed on quality paper. Page edges gilded. 9 chapters. Nearly 400 beautiful engraved illustrations - including 17 full page plates. Leather on spine is missing. Leather boards are firmly attached with nylon thread. Front board appears to have probably been the rear board of volume one but nonetheless the writing and tooling on both boards match and appear as they should be. Very beautifull leather toolwork. Leather has been oiled and waxed. Clean. Text is tightly bound in very good condition..
