EDWARD G. MATHEY (1837-1915). Mathey was an United States Army officer best known for his involvement in the 7th Regiment of Cavalry and participation in the Battle of Little Bighorn. DS. 1pg. January 8, 1878. N.p. A partially-printed document signed “E. G. Mathey” as Captain of the 7th Regiment of Cavalry. The document, filled out in another hand, concerns a private’s rations while on furlough. The 7th Regiment of Cavalry is best known for its participation in the Battle of Little Bighorn two years prior. The document is in good condition and has been repaired with tape on the verso, where it separated along the folds.
