The plates are in excellent condition. Nearly all the plates have been signed by their engravers, and 50 have been signed by the artists, including W.H. Gibson, E.A. Abbey, T. Moran, Mary Hallock Foote, F. Hopkinson Smith, W.H. Low, A.B. Frost, J.D. Smillie, and others. Seldom found complete, this folio's plates represent what the publisher considered the best of the 600 illustrations in the set of the author's works.
