About This Item
Eddy The Life of Edward Sackville-West, De-La-Noy, Michael. Published by The Bodley Head, London, 1988. First Edition. 8vo up to 9½" tall., 341 pp. with illustrations, family tree, appendices and index. Brown boards with gilt titles. In fine, unmarked condition, in unclipped jacket showing the lightest of shelf wear.
Edward Sackville-West (1901-1965) was a British music critic, novelist and, in his last years, a member of the House of Lords. He was Vita-Sackville's cousin and intimate with several of the Bloomsbury writers and painters, as well as forging relationships with E.M. Forster, Benjamin Britten, Nancy Mitford, and Graham Greene. This biography includes information from Sackville's diaries and many unpublished letters - from Evelyn Waugh, Alix Strachey, Duncan Grant and Raymond Mortimer - to relate the story of Edward's life, which is set against the literary, musical and social history of Britain between the 1920s and 1960s.
